Try booking a hotel room in Dublin during the upcoming 6 Nations Championship Rugby Tournament or the Easter 1916 Commemorations and chances are you will have less luck than a turkey at Christmas! The hotel sector in Ireland is experiencing a spectacular turnaround. One of the hardest hit sectors of the Irish economy during the recession, it is now experiencing a rebirth with a shortage of hotel rooms in Dublin and occupancy levels back to boom time figures.
According to a recent Sunday Times article (Business section 17.01.16), last year revenue per available room in Dublin grew by 23%. There is an increasing appetite from investors looking to purchase hotels, with 63 hotels changing hands in Dublin in 2015 and it is predicted that there will be a similar market in 2016.
Consequently, many hotels that were showing the signs of wear and tear are being renovated and modernised with a view to being placed on the market. Part of these upgrades involve future-proofing the property by making it more energy efficient, incorporating energy saving lighting solutions which is in line with government policy on the green economy. We have seen a steady upsurge in our hotel clients now investing in emergency lighting and energy saving lighting upgrades.
New developments in LED technology offer aesthetic energy saving solutions which can solve the problem of creating a happy balance between technology and building design.
Lightsolutions have supplied exit signage, emergency escape lighting and lighting solutions to various hotel projects over the past twelve months.
One of our current projects is the Davenport Hotel in Dublin, where we are using some of the following emergency lighting products:
The Mezzolite is an appealing alternative Led exit to conventional box exit signs as its curved surface gives an alternative for modern environments.
In addition to these, we are also using competitive LED Twinspot solutions for industrial and architectural applications. These replace the cumbersome halogen versions and are ideal for installation and maintenance due to the high output, low power, LED technology now available. The TwinLED is ideal for warehouses and plantrooms and the MiniLED for hotel, pub and shop retrofits to cover large areas which reduces energy costs.
